Cindy Sawyer, who owns a plucky little Shetland pony named Pidgy, dreams of the beautiful horse she will one day own. Ponies are nice, but a horse would be wonderful. Cindy's dream soon becomes an obsession, and her parents realize that she is becoming a very unhappy girl. After a summer full of fun and riding, with Pidgy actually winning a prize the the Country Club Horse Show, a morning comes when Pidgy goes missing from her stall. Not until she looks into the empty stall does Cindy realize how much she really loves her pony. Originally published in 1955, this book has been painstakingly brought back to life and includes over 80 original drawings by the author/illustrator Jeanne Mellin. This is an early chapter book, approximate reading age is 7-8/third grade reading level. Available July 1, 2011 on Amazon and by visiting the publisher, www.willowbendpublishing.com
