Our Drill team consists of riders ages 12+ and horses of all breeds. The riders put forth a great effort to win over large audiences and show how many breeds of horses can perform in unison in one ring. Some of these horses have only been under saddle for 4 months, but perform as though they have been doing this for years. We have horses ranging in ages from 3-25 years. We get together and practice as often as we can. The team has put forth effort in so many areas. Lessons in dressage, jumping, dance, and more have been taken by all the members. Horses also go through an intensive training program to acquire the knowledge and trust of their rider to accomplish the many stunts that they must do during a drill. The Drill team builds confidence, self esteem, and more for the riders as well as the horses. What a beautiful way to express ourselves with interpretive dance on horseback. Our objective is to leave you with a feeling of awe when we are finished with our performance.
Our drill is Dressage style and done to music with jumping, passing, and so much more. Jousting has been integrated into our performances as well. A lot of hard work has gone into training the horses, the riders, and choreography. We are dressed in Renaissance attire. We have 8 teams of two…a Prince and a Princess. We also have a Knight that rides atop an armored steed. It is turly an amazing event and an amazing thing to be a part of. Try it, you will love it.
